Holy Teaching
Who is the boss?
I was in my tutorial last week and we were talking about the Amman message. “How binding is it?” I asked.
The lecturer said that there are three authorities in Islam - Quran, Hadith and consensus (of the scholars).
I was a little taken aback - surely this is a something that parts of Christianity are accused of - attributing God’s authority to people rather than his revealed word. What do you think? Should we obey God’s word or the consensus of people?
